reflection blog- MM Webtext

For my multimodal web text I chose the topic of tattoo removal and my podcast slideshow was about makeup that hides tattoos. My audience was anyone that has a tattoo that they don’t like or want removed as well as people who just want to cover up their tattoos for special occasions. My purpose was to help people who were confused to figure out what options were available to them. I organized my text by type of removal, starting with the best options and ending with the worst. I did this for my slideshow as well. For the design, I split each topic into paragraphs and included a relevant photo. This made my project easy to read and highly suited for web readers. I labeled each section to make scanning the text quick and easy.
I’m very proud of the fact that it reads well. I spent lots of time on the text portion of my project. I also love my layout. It is highly aesthetically pleasing. I have nice photos that are related to the text that is next to it. If I had more time my web text would have been longer. There were types of tattoo removal that I was not able to include due to this time constraint. I also would have gone into more depth on each of the topics. I also with that I could have taken my own photos for my slideshow. I would have liked to show my readers/listeners how well each product worked.
I wish there were more credible sources available on this subject. I had to use a lot of personal knowledge to write this web text. Everything I found source-wise was somehow product-specific or clinic-specific. There was no unbiased information readily available. This also made it hard for me to find websites for my ‘recommended readings’ section.

podcast reflection blog

I think my podcast successful in addressing my audience. It would not be relevant to someone with the same views as me, therefore directing it towards everyone who looked down upon body modification. I love the fact that I can voice my opinions in this class and that is evident with my chosen topic. My purpose was well developed even before I began the script writing process. That really helped with the writing. Everything seemed to flow right out of my fingertips as I was creating my script. Since I was also very familiar with the subject, it made it easier to read my own script without having to re-record many times. I was really proud of the fact that I was able to add a second voice successfully without making my point sound weak. If I had more time, I would have made my podcast longer. Even though I got my point across, it was just under a minute too short. I may go back and add another question/answer point. I think my amount of sources may have been a little weak, but I was speaking mostly form personal knowledge and experience. I think the design of my podcast worked out well because it strengthened the fact that I took other people’s views into consideration when planning my script. I think my technical knowledge of the program we worked with greatly increased with this podcast. It took me a long time to figure out how to copy and paste, but in the end I believe it made my podcast better overall. I was able to record each segment individually and paste them together when I had them just right. It also helped me have the correct amount of time between each paragraph so my podcast didn’t sound rushed or forced. Now that I have successfully completed this podcast for class, I think I may regularly create podcasts on my own. I enjoyed it.

podcast proposal

So my podcast is going to be about body modification vs mutilation, what the difference is, and why people would argue that all modification is mutilation. I am hoping that it will work smoothly in a conversation format. let me know what you guys think.

webtext reflection...

i thought this project was extremely difficult. especially after receiving my grade. i thought i had done a great job. maybe not an A paper, but at the very least a low B-high C... i moved my references onto a separate page, added a few gross photos, changed my conclusion to include why tattoo safety is such an important topic, moved some sentences around to make a little more sense, and threw in a few extra sentences to make transitions less abrupt. hope that did the trick and i get a better grade....

According to the video "2006, The Year of Digital Rhetoric" many elections were changed due to an abundance of information on the web. These videos and blogs had a massive impact on the new generation of voting youth, thus altering several elections. Although in previous years digital rhetoric had little effect on elections, in 2006 the public soapbox, also known as the internet, exploded with political information, thus swaying elections away from their original path.

I think I'm going to do my web-text about tattoos. Possibly about safety or what to look for in a good tattoo, maybe both.
